Origin
William HAMMOND, his wife Charlotte and at
least one son, William, moved to Guernsey some time between 1822
and 1825. They originated from Bishop's Caundle in Dorset.
William was the third son of John HAMMOND and Deborah HANN.

Stallholdings
- In 1826, William Hammond holds stall 33 in
the Town Meat Market (Commercial Directory). Stall 34 is
held by Thomas Reynolds.
- By 1845, William Hammond holds stalls
33-34 (Barbet's). He holds these two stalls until 1876
when they are split (possibly the death of William senior
?), and stall 33 is allocated to W Mordaunt. William
Hammond continues to hold stall 34 until at least 1882,
but disappears from trade directories between then and
1891.

Other Information
- William Hammond was a shipowner as well as
a butcher. Between 1829 and 1851 he registered at least 5
vessels. The first one of them was the Venus,
which he jointly owned with Thomas CROFT, another
butcher.
