Guernsey Butchers : Foote
|
|
Origin
John FOOT, a butcher of Ashburton, Devon
married Jane STABB of Slapton, Devon in the parish of East
Stonehouse, Plymouth in 1783. John's family can be traced back in
Ashburton a further six generations - as far as the parish
registers survive.
Jane STABB died in Brixham in 1801, but John
remarried Elizabeth DREW of Kingswear, Devon and settled in
Guernsey with his family. His son, George, bought him a house in
Rohais de Bas and called it "Ashburton House"
after his father's place of birth.
