Origin
George Churley was born in Uffculme, Devon, the son of John Churley and Elizabeth Quick. He moved to Guernsey with his second wife, Jane, in the late 1830s. Two of his sons went into the meat trade, with William as a butcher, and Henry becoming a cattle merchant.
